Mal has held either senior executive or board positions in all four divisions of English professional football as well as Managing Director positions in both Scottish and Irish football, across a 25 year to-date career.
The experience Mal brings to Stadimax, essentially from the “buyers” perspective, is invaluable in helping Stadimax understand the challenges a club faces when contracting specialist consultancy services. He is aware of the income opportunities that come from engaging with the whole spectrum of stakeholders, of the need to be mindful of unnecessary expense and ultimately that reward comes from hard work and doing things right.
Mal has sat on the Commercial and Finance Working parties of the English Football League (EFL) in the past and until recently, was one of the Founding Trustees of the EFL Trust, a charity whose focus, through the network of the EFL’s Club Community Organisations, is on improving health and wellbeing, raising aspirations and realising potential, and building stronger, more cohesive communities.
He has guest lectured on a number of post-graduate and masters degree courses on matters such as fan engagement, governance, monetisation of stadia as well as financial topics has presented on areas as diverse as dynamic-ticket pricing and the need for integrated data systems at a number of seminars.
